Evans Scholar Tasha PhillipsScholarship Program

MMJGA awarded its first scholarships in 2004 to three exemplary caddies and golfers from our program. Thanks to our partners at Wal-Mart, we look forward to providing more scholarship opportunities in the future.

MMJGA awards educational scholarships to young people with a commitment to the game of golf, and who are not currently eligible for Evans Scholars Program.

Recipients must:

  • Complete two full years in the MMJGA Caddie Program
  • Document at least 40 loops of caddying in the two-year period (with at least 25 loops at a private country club in the two-year period)
  • Assist in training new caddies
  • Achieve "A" level or above caddie status at a country club
  • Be accepted at a post-secondary educational program or enrolled at a post-secondary educational program
  • Maintain a 2.0 or better grade point average
  • Complete an application form and essay

Additionally, some exceptional young people will receive scholarship funds for educational costs and for advanced golf lessons if they are committed to golf as a life's profession.

The board reserves the right, based on the functional equivalence of prior experience, to grant scholarships to any applicant with a majority of board approval. For information on another scholarship opportunity that MMJGA participants have found helpful, visit: http://www.minneapolis.edu/powerofyou
